On Wednesday May 22, robots from various student teams will take over the Ketelhuisplein in Eindhoven during the opening of the Sioux Mechatronics Trophy. This exciting and innovative event is open to the public and interesting for young and old.

Annual competition
Every year, Sioux stimulates technical talent with a challenging assignment. This allows the students to experience the full project flow from concept into a working prototype, and at the same time find a solution to a problem. Participants from different colleges and universities in Europe build their autonomous robots all year round in order to come up with an innovative and effective solution.

Change & Charge
More and more equipment nowadays works autonomously and often on batteries. However, replacing it usually requires an additional operation. The goal of this Mechatronics Trophy is the construction of an autonomous robot that can exchange empty batteries itself. For example, for a robot that cleans solar panels or a healthcare robot. When the batteries are changed automatically, there is hardly any down time. This means not losing valuable time on a charger.
The challenge
The robots of the student teams are being tested on a challenging course. The robot that completes the quickest change of batteries is, together with its makers, crowned the winner of the Sioux Mechatronics Trophy!

The teams start at 16:00 by preparing for the race. The preliminaries start at 6 pm, after which the final races will take place between 8 pm and 9 pm.

Part of the Sioux Tech Festival
The Sioux Mechatronics Trophy is part of the two-day Sioux Tech Festival, where the Ketelhuisplein on Strijp S is the Walhalla for techies.
